this is extra depressing to say the least, and you have expressed this mans grief well...It is easy to see why he thinks God doesn't love him with all the bad happening to him-
These lines surprised me:
what he wouldn't give
for a good moat.
^^^^haven't seen that word MOAT in awhile...I liked how you used it, nice way to end this sad poem.-

It's a double-entendre: he is the 'mote in God's eye' + the moat is a basic defense work to keep him protected from the world. There is, of course, the sinister connotation of why someone in his state would want to use a moat.
