Why does it have to be me?

by Kips2.0   May 18, 2012

So many times I'm forced to ask 'why?'
So many times my eyes feel teary,
So many times I have no option than to cry,
So many times I just feel very weary.

Why should I be the one to chase?
I don't have the strength to walk,
Neither do I have the ability to run,
Why does it have to be me?

Why should I be the one to dream?
I don't have the vision to see,
Neither do I have the mind to imagine,
Why does it have to be me?

Why should I be the one to owe?
I don't have the money to squander,
Neither do I have the funds to pay,
Why does it have to be me?

Why should I be the one to sing?
I don't have the courage to speak,
Neither do I have the zeal to shout,
Why does it have to be me?

Why should I be the one to lie?
I don't have the audacity to steal,
Neither do I have the spirit to covet,
Why does it have to be me?

Why should I be the one to get in trouble?
I don't have the desire to gossip,
Neither do I have the attitude of a troublemaker,
Why does it have to be me?

I like this a lot! I enjoyed the fact that you weren't tied to one narrow minded idea, but that you brought in several different struggles we all go through. Good Job!

Well, in some parts of your poem I am relate from this...

So many times I'm forced to ask 'why?'
So many times my eyes feel teary,
So many times I have no option than to cry,
So many times I just feel very weary.

In life, there are many questions that we want to find an answers..."So many times I have no option than to cry,"--I like the way you express it...very emotional.

Why should I be the one to chase?
I don't have the strength to walk,
Neither do I have the ability to run,
Why does it have to be me?

I like the imagery of this part. It's like that the persona have no strength to walk or go on his life because he is hopeless...or maybe it is the persona who is maimed and asking about why he has that disabilities. He want to run or walk normally like other people can but he's not.

Why should I be the one to dream?
I don't have the vision to see,
Neither do I have the mind to imagine,
Why does it have to be me?

In this part, it is like a blind persona that has a dream maybe to see the things around him but he lost hope because for him it is impossible...

Why should I be the one to owe?
I don't have the money to squander,
Neither do I have the funds to pay,
Why does it have to be me?

In this part, it is about the poor people who striving to find money in their everyday's life...with debt here..debt there only to survive their life..and I like the way you express your idea here...poor labored people still asking that they striving in their whole life but still they are linger in that situation.

Why should I be the one to sing?
I don't have the courage to speak,
Neither do I have the zeal to shout,
Why does it have to be me?

This part, is about a persona who is mute and wishing to speak...to sing..and to shout but he has no ability to do it so...and asking for all people why he is the one given that disability.

These two parts are about the persona who is a victim of prime up or misconceive by the crime of other person...it reminds me about of innocent people who imprison into jail that in fact they are innocent in the crime...

I love the message..it is really amazing piece and the flows are good too...well-penned. Kips.
    Keep writing:)
