If You Don't Say It

by Poet on the Piano   May 21, 2012

Tell them
the burns
on your face
did not start
with fire,

that your heart
was their first
victim- and you
say you'll fade
with each teardrop
into the haze
they've pressed.

If you don't stand up
nothing will heal
and dark
will be your wings;
but you don't
have to drift
if you just
take another breath
and choose to stay,
and not leave by the pills
hidden somewhere
your mind has told you.

Death won't love you.

They're all in there,
pulsing through you,
if you don't say no
you'll die tonight
just for them.

Don't let them
sink you
for your blood
is strong-
and it will survive.

Inspired by Emily Osment's song "Drift" about cyberbullying. Thank you for reading, know that you are loved and no matter how many words are against you, you are a precious life worth living, don't fall, get up and don't forget who you are.

I thought this was really good. Reminded me of someone with drugs hence the pills. That they can't live without them cause their so addicting. But if they choose to do them one more night, then death awaits them. A really great and inspirational poem. :)
