Alexa's Poem

by Tyler Moore   May 24, 2012

Blame the sky for its boundless beauty,
the sun for its shine and daily duty
of painting the horizon as it rises and wanes
portraying in endless colors, the earth's joys and pains.

Blame the vast sea for its waves and tides,
its creatures and treasures, and the secrets it hides.
Blame the depths of the ocean for failing to cease,
whether raging in storm or placid at peace.

Blame the stars in the sky for shinning so bright,
illuminating the shadows of the dark and scary night,
for mapping the future across the sky,
for sketching their pictures, so livid and sly.

Blame the branches of a tree for their vast expanse,
as they sway to and fro in rhythm and dance.
Blame the gusting wind for its forceful ways,
the roar of a fire for its destruction and rage.

Blame the colors of the rainbow, as they chase away the rain
painted across the sky like a mesmerizing stain.
Blame the seasons for the tendency of always changing face,
altering their appearances, and always in good pace.

Blame your smile for its power, to light the darkest day,
reminding me of sunshine when my mood is dull and gray.
Blame your heart for my love, and your love for the feel
of something otherworldly, like a heaven that is real.

Blame God himself for his stroke of perfection,
a smile, a touch, an unwavering affection.
Eyes that whisper and taunt with every single glance,
"I love you, I need you", with magical romance.
You can blame God himself that he didn't make two,
but don't you dare blame me for loving you!
