When I'm Gone

by Tyler Moore   May 24, 2012

If these words do but one thing,
let them leap from the page
and embrace you.

Let them grasp you and hold you,
so that no such other utterance
may reach your ears;
have them be already consumed,
overwhelmed by these words, my love.

Let them creep up on you,
with the mid summer's breeze
and wrap around you body
to put your heart at ease.
Let them warm you against
winter's wretched chill,
bathe over you like the sun
does onto snow capped hills.

Though I will be gone forever more,
When these words finally reach your lips,
Let them remind you of my touch,
And of how we used to kiss.

If nothing more, I beg
that whatever it is you do,
never forget, always remember,
these words I say,
I love you.
