Mother Dearest

by Tyler Moore   May 24, 2012

A mother is a miracle
of the best and greatest kind,
and I've got a thing or two to say
about the quality of mine.

She's always fought my battles,
ready to wage and reckon war;
and I've loved her so much for it,
I just wish I showed it more.

I wish I told her everyday
that she's the best and make her know it,
but my love is flawed and broken,
'cause I've forgotten how to show it.

To show how much she means to me,
how proud I am to be her son,
but I know what I'll remember
when this life is over and done.

I'll remember how she loved me
more than anyone on earth,
from this here very moment
to the second of my birth.

How she's forever been my best friend
and always had my back,
with a warm smile and open heart,
she's my light when all else is black.

As a baby her voice was an angels
counting away the sheep,
singing lullabies to close your eyes
as you drifted off to sleep.

She scared away the nightmares
when the day had lost its light,
there to comfort and console me
and tell me everything's alright.

I love my mom more than life itself,
more than words can say alone.
So if of mothers you ask me, I'll tell you now,
that you can find your own.
