Mankind, Son of Promise

by Aireus Kayne   May 29, 2012

As this year comes to a close
So comes the event that everyone knows
This black world burns so bright
It outshines heaven, its flames so white
The rise of man, and then the fall
Sorrow and death outlive them all
ealing with matters out of their hands
Mankind is burning across the lands
The serpentine fashion in which man speaks
Has burnt his planet in a matter of weeks

Mankind, son of promise, born to last
Gives birth to mankind, starving, born to ash.
Mankind, starving, dying breed
Example to mankind, who takes no heed
Mankind, reckless, born to burn
Is now filling the fires mankind did spurn
Mankind, beginning, the mold did rend
Is now mankind, burning, at the world's own end.
