Knight without a Princess

by Marquesas   Jun 2, 2012

It feels as though it's been an eternity since I set out on my quest
Seeking a damsel in distress
I have traveled far and wide
Through the blazing south to the freezing north
Over the highest mountains and deepest oceans
Conquering seemingly endless labyrinths
Solving near impossible puzzles
Slaying beasts of incredible proportions
From brutish barbarians to ferocious dragons
Yet after every challenge and trial
I find myself without a fair maiden
Just a new set of injuries
And a fractured heart
My armor no longer shining
Now darkened and scarred
Heavy and burdening is the weight I carry
I'm tired and yearn for rest
But I will not yield, I will not stop
With hope and love as the force behind my sword

Ahhh another sweet tale of a knight in shining armor... expect:
    "My armor no longer shining
    Now darkened and scarred
Heavy and burdening is the weight I carry"
... that's my favorite part. I like how you show your heart as armor even though armor protects you and the heart is your weakest point... once broken, there is no going back.
Keep fighting for love hun! You'll find that damsel in distress!
