Sad Goodbye

I pack my bags in silence
as i watch you sleep
i wipe the tears from my eyes
although i continue to weep

i cant bare to say goodbye
to your beautiful face
i hope you can forgive me
for leaving with such haste

i kiss your pearl like forehead
and our engagement ring
pull the covers over you tighter
as i stroke your chin

i brush the hair from your eyes
for just one last glance
for a moment time is frozen
like we have a second chance

but then the spell is broken
and its time to leave
I'm going on a long journey
nows the time for grief

our golden summer fortnight
i will take to distant shores
but my darling sweet fiancee
ill be back, rest assured

keep yourself warm and safe
while i am away
i be returning soon my darling
for our wedding day

and if i die before I'm back
i want you to know this day
that i will carry my love for you
beyond my earthly grave

now I'm on a speeding airplane
lost and incomplete
forever living a half life
until the day we meet

i can still hear quite clearly
your voice inside my head
my arms still feel the cuddles
we had snuggled in your bed

i can still hear you say `i love you`
with your heavenly voice so sublime
and i can still feel the softness
of your lips upon mine
