Flightless with wings

The sky is a merry blue
the waves roll through and through
colored kites fly past me
the sun shines right through me
iridescent in the light
are my wings
i long to fly
i can not fly
i have wings, but no one can see me

    Love the 'merry' start and lightness of the poem. Love the imagery of rolling waves. The sorrowful ending adds to the depth of the poem for a moment of self reflection
