Deserving

by TheProsePoet   Jun 11, 2012

You still don't listen to a word I say
No matter how many times I tell you
You do deserve happiness
Yet you still deny...

"Are you saying I'm not your happiness?"

You stay quiet for a while
Looking down to your hands resting on your lap

My heart beats faster
My mind is spinning
I am afraid of your answer

Tears form in my eyes and my lips begin to tremble
I wait for you to look up at me
Look me straight in the eyes

"I don't know..."

Beginning to feel pain
I clutch my chest

You look up at me
realizing the state I am in, you reach out to me

"Wait, you did not hear the whole thing!"

Kneeling at my feet
Looking up at my crying face
You grasp my hands in yours

"You are my happiness
But I don't deserve you!

I am greedy
I want you all to myself!

To simply say you are my happiness
Just is not enough!

You are my happiness
But you are more than that, too

You are my life
I never lived truly till I meet you."

My tears are still streaming down
This time with happiness
I smile and am simply speechless

We embrace and kiss
Thoughts are exchanged
Without a single word spoken

"I love you"
