Walking somewhere in a dream

by Ole Carsten   Jun 12, 2012

I am walking without a goal.
There are no fixed points.
Elvis is not there at the Iron Gate,
Maybe he is in the jungle room.

I am crossing rivers wide.
Standing at Marcus Square,
I am scouting for the Doge.
He had left centuries ago,
I am a bit late to meet him.

I saw the old Queen mother,
I greeted her from distance.
She waved and nodded,
I think for me or someone else.

I am walking in the desert,
It is full of life?
I didn't know it was.
I thought it was empty and deserted.

I am walking in forest thick and dense,
Climbing mountains,
Swimming over oceans,
I am floating far away on rivers.

I have seen N.Y. high,
Walked at ground Zero.
Now I found peace,
in a small village in Eastern Europe.

The old sayings are true,
Home is where you heart is.
My boots are placed,
Deep in the wardrobe, I sleep now.

This is so sad and beautful and so well
    penned, Ole
Home is where your heart is
You can take me out of my country
but not my country out of my heart
that is what I gathered from your poem
