Those eyes

by Yakari Gabriel   Jun 20, 2012

This is why I don't like
getting involved with people,
this is why I don't like
kissing, nor hugging, nor spending
time talking about whatever
it is, there is to talk
about.

it happened too fast,
we moved too fast,
and so we crash.

and I have to let you go,
you ain't mine. you will never
be mine.

we call it, or at least
I call this fling quits.

but that doesn't mean
I won't spend a few
more nights thinking
about those eyes.

bright, brown and big.

those eyes I could
have written, a million
poems about.

but settled for
just two.

This is so sad and simple at the same time. I loved your previous piece about that person and now this... It's just heartbreaking to say the least.

The simplicity of your words in this piece make it beautiful. Loved how you just let your emotions flow here, well written.

Wow Yaki, the heartache here and inevitable feelings is so strong when I read this. I loved the dedication to this person, whose big brown eyes are constantly reminding you and constantly being in your memory. The end was so sweet and then a bit melancholy, when you know you could write a myriad of poems, but you go for just two. I thought the part about getting too involved and then crashing was really real for me, because there's truth in it, you go so far, so quick sometimes, that it just happens, you can't take things back or you can't know that your wishes will come true. But that still doesn't keep you from thinking of that person, dreaming of them. Because they still came into your life and affected you, maybe even changed your past feelings.

Great write, as usual girl :]
