Written Word (Decastich)

by Steven Beesley   Jun 21, 2012

Truth be known that most of us are able
to write and communicate, but
there seems to be speech impairment
for the species since the spoken word
never seems to provide the proper
cultivation of our emotions and meanings
which appear to become tongue tied
and twisted much to our dismay
but to the complete amusement and
pleasure of Beelzebub.

Decastich:

According to Lewis Turco's "Book of Forms", the Decastich is any whole poem of 10 lines. There is no reference to meter or rhyme pattern and I would have thought because of its flexibility it would have encouraged experimentation of ideas.

I love this piece. This is one beautiful poem with good content and good word choice which flows just so smoothly.
