Just Be

by Yakari Gabriel   Jun 24, 2012

Someone out there
is counting on no one
else but the mercy of
strangers.

be kind to everyone;

it shall clean you soul
it shall make you feel better

it will,

make you better.

    First off, I need to thank Cynnie for making me read this poem because it really left sooo much in me. Thank you, Cynnie. :)

    Secondly, Yaks, I too was surprised that this was short, even though I read some other short pieces from you, still the title made me think it's going to be a bit long. I don't know why.

    I love what you have to say here. I really do. I think I need to do that, in my life. Thank you for opening my eyes. :)

    A wonderful write. Keep writing, please. ;)

    I will never really get used to the sight of you writing short poetry, I guess I'm just SO used to your longer pieces that I forgot you're the kind of woman who can punch someone in the face with just a few words. Everything, from your title till the ending, is just so blunt. I guess it's the title and the first two lines that really grabbed me.

    I really liked the way you divided the first two lines, putting so much emphasis on someone "out there", who's standing outside the normal circle of people, and then counting on "no one", at all. I guess I just really can't get used to the word "else" at the beginning of a line, but that's the sacrifice that must be made when focusing on "no one". To me, your first stanza could've been a poem on its own, if the title were different, and maybe one additional line to conclude it all.

    I guess I could say I would've liked to see something more of an "image" when you said "be kind to everyone", but that would've ruined the whole atmosphere of the poem. The bluntness suits you, and the ending line made my heart ache ... For, is it really a good deed when you're being good for the sake of ... being good, feeling better? (Will it REALLY make you better, or just soothe your conscience for a few seconds?) Maybe it's just because I've been thinking about this as of late. -.- Not to bash your message or anything, I know you didn't mean it that way. I've got to love the positive spirit here if I wasn't in an emotional mood, lol. Keep writing, lovely one. :)

    This is so true! At times we may not know who or what to count on, and all we have is those strangers who pass into our lives and make that difference, make us smile. Beautifully penned, well-said Yaki, this is such inspiration to everyone!!!!!!
