When His Heart Breaks....

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 25, 2012

I want to stitch back every dream
he was told would never make it,

pile all the words that were like
glass demons,
whispering how no one would
possess him the way they would,
and push it all into the fire pit.

But I've already gone speechless,
for I've seen what it is you
desire so much.

Your heart is too good
to be fixed up with bandages
that can easily be bought-

what it needs,
what you are made of,
is love,

and if you'd only look at me closer,
instead of
cowering
[gazing at me like I'm a vulture
ready to give another bad word]

you'd know I'll put you first
and for the first time,
I would bear the weight of your
castle-like heart,
and try to hold you
together.

Aww that is such a deep poem but so sweet at the same time. It really reaches out to you and makes you feel empathy for the people in it.

Your first lines : I want to stitch back every dream
he was told would never make it,

    - These hold a lot of meaning as through out life you will always be told by people that you will not make it and it has a great affect on your confidence.

:and if you'd only look at me closer,
    instead of
    cowering
    - I loved this line, I could picture this clearly in my mind and the frustration and desperation you would feel for them to trust you enough to let you love them and perhaps love in return.

My favourite is indeed your ending : you'd know I'll put you first
    and for the first time,
I would bear the weight of your
    castle-like heart,
    and try to hold you
    together.

    - Aww... I do just think this is so sweet and in a way its like the only thing they need is the one thing they are scared of.

I really like this poem, you done a good job.

A heart is very fragile and can be easily
broken. It opens wounds and leaving scars
    it takes time to heal
