Resume (as of my 3 years clean day...4/13/09-4/13/12)

Sitting staring at the trees
Still beneath the falling night
Pondering childhood memories
Things I've done both wrong and right
Like years ago at bible camp
On a night much like tonight
When "softly and tenderly Jesus" was "calling"
With a "yoke" that was "easy"
And a "burden" that was "light"
I remember the tears streaming down Christian cheeks
As we sang "ye who are weary come home"
And the "still small voice" they said was calling us
"home to the Cross, nevermore to roam"
So that's what I did, I ran down the aisle
To the alter and fell on my knees
Crying "God forgive me, I have sinned
Save me Jesus won't you please?"
And Jesus did, he saved my soul
Just like He promised He would
Since then through toils, snares and strife
Though I've often broke bad I'm showered with good
So what have I learned?
Have I done any right?
Am I completing my course?
Do I fight the good fight?
My blessings, I've learned, are quite unearned
As for right, my life has been charmed
When I veer off course, I'm always returned
Ever safe and mostly unharmed
