Dear Lord

by Willie   Jul 1, 2012

This world is so confounding
Strengthen me to muddle through
Your Word of Truth is mere opinion
The worldly wise know more than you
I marvel at how you withstand it
The mess of things we make
The love you give we take for granted
Just take and take for takings sake
We're the greater in importance
Waxing more so every day
The great unwashed upright so moral
Is now the potter you're the clay
Just once were we to see you
Sitting talking face to face
Perhaps we'd see we're so unworthy
Of your mercy and your grace
I've spent my life believing
The Bible's infallible and true
Yet I'm ashamed how cavalierly
I might flesh out those very truths
Please help me Lord lest I stray
For it's a closer walk with you I yearn
And grant me liberally your Wisdom
Down life's roads and through its turns
