Too Close

by Jack Nightengale   Jul 3, 2012

I tried to keep all my promises,
You don't know how much it hurts to try and breathe,
Yet at the end of it all my heart broke again,
Clinching the knife in my hand that I need to release,
Confused on what's right but, I'm afraid of the wrong,
How do I convince myself to stay strong,
When you're headed a seperate way...

I guess I'm just too close to nothing,
And there really is nothing I can say,
I can't run no more, I can't fight no more,
I'm just too close to nothing,
So I'm just fading away...

I tried to give everything in return,
Yet better is still what you deserve,
Nothing is what I can say, nothing for me to do,
I'm nothing to you,
And its left me so blue,
Still you're walking in a seperate way...

I really am too close to nothing,
There really is nothing I can even say,
I can't run no more, I can't fight no more,
I'm just too close too nothing,
And now I'm just fading away...

"Clinching the knife in my hand that I need to release,

The best line. In my opinion.

    Well done.

I love that stanza, it catches my attention and draws me into the rest of the poem. Your word flow for it was amazing, and overall I really enjoyed reading this. ((5))
