The Dancer

I was weaned off of milk weed,
danced upon a summer conversation,
twisting cattails within ebony silk,

all by the age of five.

Innocence slipped into a straight jacket,
knowing the true meaning of safety,
sharing conversations with antidepressants,

by thirty, give or take a year or two.

As the love rages within my soul,
so does the dark ages of a manic,
twisted, dying tree upon the hill,

I'll rest there someday,
but as long as I still see the light,
the pendulum will continue to sway,

to the left, and to the right,
I am a dancer-

    The poem flows like a sensual /spiritual way of dancing as you show us excerpts of your life movie. Beautiful

    You may think I am bit*hing or stuff, but the end made me laugh real hard. I just LOVE how you brought very far things together in one creative description (Pendulum going to the right, to the left- --------- AND -------- Dancing).

    To me, this is a summary of your life, Andrea. Can I say a mini autobiography? I read between the lines that you started your life normally, then by the age of 30, melancholy hit your core (antidepressants).

    BUT STILL, nothing can stop you, my beautiful woman!

    You WILL LIVE YOUR LIFE TILL THE END. And as time goes (pendulum), and you age, you will try hard to be happy.

    I'd rather not take dancing literally, but I'd take it as something to keep your soul happy. Isn't dancing an expression of the soul, metaphorically, rather than being a physical expression?

    You are a beautiful DANCER, Andrea.
    And I wish I have votes left to nominate this.

    It moved me overseas.

    I love what you have written Andrea,
    The poem starts by giving us an image of how you were when you were younger, and then in the end when you were older. It was like a little story with happy and sad bits. Happy bits - the images that I had of you dancing and seeing the light. The sadness though I felt when you mentioned the word manic and sharing conversations with antidepressants.
    I can see you dancing beautifully and I did enjoy reading this poem, as I do all of yours! You magnificent woman, you!
