Longing for the Unattainable

by amanda   Jul 6, 2012

The feeling of longing for
something that is unattainable
is messy and painful.
There is no word to
properly explain it.

The feeling you get in your gut
is often described as the
twisting of a rope,
tighter and tighter,
until it breaks from
the tension.

If only it were so clean.

I find it similar to a
tightened rope unraveling.
Once the strings that once
made up reality unravel,
there is no winding them back.

When I get that feeling,
I try to grasp at that
which is lost.

Yet when I do,
the task seems to be
on par with finding
your way out of a
labyrinth with your
sanity still intact,
impossible.
