Our View ( victim )

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 10, 2012

You abuse us because
you think you can
by silencing us with your threats.
You abuse us because
you don't have control
over anything else in your life.
You abuse us because
you think we won't tell,
since we feel so scared of you.

But the truth of it is
you are going to hell
because united we stand
and together we yell.
Together we fight, together we win
united together, we will never give in!

You abuse us because
you are weak and small
and think this will make you big.
You abuse us because
you're worth nothing at all
and crave to be worth something.
You abuse us because
you think you'll get away
and go unpunished for your crime.

But the truth of it is
you are the one to blame
and you have lost at your own game.
Together we will feel no shame,
we will no longer fear your name.
We deserve so much more,
we are worth so much more,
united together we will be so much more!

There's a lot more of us
than there are of you,
we are braver and stronger
than ever before
since you don't hold the power over us any more.
Because united we stand,
together we will be
and one day you will see
that you're the ones who are not free.

Like Purple Rose stated, I read this as a victory chant. It is very powerful and I love it. It is uplifting and I could see a crowd of people chanting this trying to stand against abuse!

"Together we fight, together we win
United together, we will never give in!"

Love that! Standing together is something that gives hope. You can help each other cope with the pain because you understand more than anyone. Never give up fighting!

You have a great message here that anyone who has been abused needs to read!

I love this poem a lot more than the other. It is very good. When I read it, it reminds me of a victory chant after someone overcomes a great obstacle. I noticed that you used some of the same lines (or ideas) from the other poem, which I thought was really cool because you basically replied.

    'You abuse us because
    You are weak and small
    You abuse us because
    You're worth nothing at all
    You abuse us because
    You think you'll get away
    You abuse us because
    We believed you that day.'

^ This is my favorite stanza of this whole poem, because it is where the reader can tell that the victims are snapping back. You can tell this throughout the whole piece, but I thought that it was really evident here. I can tell that they got tired of it all and finally just started to react - they decided to step up and save themselves.

I can relate so much to all of these poems, so I become emotional. The one thing that I hate the most is that no one really cares or they have a tendency to avoid it. I know what that feels like, because I have been there. It sucks big time - it screws you up in the head because you think that no one loves you, or cares for you.

I really like how you wrote an uplifting poem for those who were abused, because if this is not true, then it shows that you care. Or that you at least tried to understand it from their perspective.

The flow was excellent in this one, like all of your poems. I couldn't find any mistakes, so nothing here is really constructive. It is a beautiful poem.
