Groomed

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 10, 2012

( I was asked by the author to write a poem about her recently released biography.... so here it is )

The book is called Groomed - by Laurie Matthew, and is a great harrowing story.

------------------------------------------------------------

I opened the book and I started to read
from the start right to the end.
I felt so privileged to know
that this author is my friend.
And as I flicked through every page
I felt this authors pain,
but little did I know
what I was about to gain.
For written deep within this book
is the journey of a child who didn't belong,
but that little girl had no idea
she would grow up to be so strong.
Through her bravery and courage
she fought her demons every day,
then one day she decided
that these monsters would have to pay.

This story tells her journey
of how much she had to fight,
for this troubled little girl
wasn't safe to sleep at night.
And even if this child told
no one ever would have helped,
but all of this began to change
the night her little sister yelped.
That was the night that hit her hard
and she knew what she had to do,
she didn't want her baby sister
to suffer what she went through.
And as you're reading every chapter
you can feel your heart beating fast,
you know that this lost child
needs to break free of her past.

Your eyes will be peeled open
to things you wouldn't believe,
but then never could you imagine
what this child went on to achieve.
As she grew, she found herself,
she saved the adult inside.
And when she was older she realised
that these secrets would no longer hide.
She would stand up in this world
and a difference she would make.
The night they hurt her little sister
was their biggest ever mistake.
And now this author is very well known,
protecting children who need help now.
She has set up charities working worldwide,
preventing abuse and teaching others how.

Although her words could never describe
the true pain from that awful time,
these words will open your eyes
just as they did mine.
I hope it encourages people to think
and sometimes take a closer look.
Could you know someone hurting
like the child in this book?
It is never too late to try and help,
children just need to know you care,
as I was once a victim too
who wouldn't of survived if this author wasn't there.
So now she has shared her story with you
I hope maybe you can see,
she is saving so many children
just like she saved me.
