Before Him

by Colette   Jul 12, 2012

Ten hang-ups in one minute,
could feel he wasn't into it.
Cuts on his skin,
scars lie within.
I'm in too deep, cannot escape,
these relations just bent out of shape.
Everything with him askew,
but that was before I met you.

All about sports,
what happened on the courts.
Just sticking around for the goods,
only wanted a glimpse under the hood.
Never serious, or caring, to me,
said"there are other fish in the sea".
World drowning in the ocean blue,
but that was before I met you.

The forgotten mistake was next,
too shy to ever care.
Sensitive sweetie trying so hard,
while I just tossed him away like a card.
Never the same would he look at me again,
thankfully he is still a friend.
Confused and scared, don't know what to do.
But that was before I met you.

Long hugs and sweet voice,
he always gives me a choice.
Look no more, I've found the best.
I'll hold him close to my chest.
Tries to be modest, but I know he's great.
We always stay up talking too late.
Bagel Boy found the key to my heart,
our story is (was) a work of art.
Now all is great, not like before.
I always know someone's there,
and I always know you care(d).
What we have is true,
and so much better than how it was before I met you.

*and now he's gone too...
