Listen to Me

by Colette   Jul 17, 2012

It hurts to know that your words are unheard,
Your feelings unmentioned,
That your basis is absurd.
You cut out the pain,
Eliminate it with every option,
View the world as vain.

It's hard to be told that you are wrong,
Even when you're right,
But you're forced to go along.
You follow the pack,
Stick with the group,
Stand in the back.

It sucks to see someone you love cry,
Their tears fall,
With each and every lie.
You do the only thing there is left to do,
Which is block it all out,
Just like you were always told to.

To feel like nothing is the worst,
Attempting to make something of yourself,
Your existence is a curse.
You shadow those who you believe are great,
While closing out the ones you love.
You believe that this is cleaning off your slate.

To start fresh would mean so much,
To see you again,
For us to be able to touch.
I watch you because ,
I don't know how.
To show the things I'm saying now.

To truly read between the lines,
One must pick up the book,
And look it straight in the eyes.
You pretend I'm the book,
Pick up my heart in your hands,
Show me you aren't afraid to look.
Hold me like if you let go I'll be gone,
Speak to me like my voice is the wind,
Let whatever happens happen.

When I see that this mask is fake,
I'll tear it off.
Something easy to take.
Try to listen to me as I say,
Never go away from me,
Never go away.
