Metamorphosis

by Colette   Jul 17, 2012

Hiding beneath the skin that we see,
The real thing is black.
Darker than a sharpie,
Frightening.

Crying behind those glassy eyes,
The real one's are blue.
Bluer than every ocean,
Mystifying.

Screaming under the voices,
The things we hear aren't real.
As fake as the mask you hide behind,
Pretending.

Defying the closest ones,
The lie is clearly there.
Sorry doesn't fix much,
Betraying.

Flying so low,
You will hit the ground.
The brakes have been cut,
Unraveling.
