Drawing on the pumpkin

by Khalid M Darwish   Jul 23, 2012

In our party
you have to petrify all pirates
and fire all the poltergeists
It's not phantasm and not a prank
because we don't trust in phantoms.
I'll bring my potion
where both the prince and princess
will pretend that they'll be carving
and drawing on the pumpkin.

I like how this poem has an ironic twisted reality to it. I can see how things relate to each other in the mind of a child and innocence is the school of thought that imagination belongs too... Sometimes reality is more beautiful that way.

Like Dagmar said, this reminds me of Halloween. Kids dressed up as pirates and ghosts, and prince/princesses... all carving pumpkins at their party. I loved how you used all the "P" words from the contest.

    Great write.
