Forgetting my past

by I always end up killing myself in the end   Jul 23, 2012

Last year is gone
A slice of my past
So many things happened
Memories that weren't meant to last

In that time
I fell and got lost
And I learned
Everything has a cost

I had to get up
And learn to walk again
Learn from my mistakes
And come out of the lion's den

I wasted away in tears
Regret upon regret
So many things
I wish I could forget

But sooner or later
We all must grow
Learn to mature
It is part of the flow

Yesterday has gone
Today is already here
Tomorrow is coming
We must have no fear

Hope is in the future
To live a better life
But we must realize
There will always be hurt and strife

There will always be things we will never understand,
But even if it is a bumpy we must do the best we can

So even though you can do nothing about the last years, learn to move on make a new and better past and cry out new tears

Great flow and rhyme with a great closing couple of lines. Well done.

Nice poem full of realities! We do learn from our mistakes and no one knows what's hidden in the future but rather should be optimistic. I liked much the stanza that says
    Hope is in the future
    To live a better life
    But we must realize
There will always be hurt and strife
