Solace

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 26, 2012

The sight of a church so large, resting
calmly so high above your eyes, mounted
courageously that with every look up
you can barely contain a joyous smile from lips
well-driven....emotions well-walked.

But it's different now,
or maybe it's been the same?

How has it been that you've traveled
milestones to see true wonder, but never
felt it until you lay down all your troubles.

Maybe you have always had that light feeling,
undisclosed, giving you shivers hours before
midnight, the kind you know will not leave you
nor fade into deep holes and burials
of what makes one retreat, and not know
sanctuary.

When you can you rest peacefully
after temptations are driven from the sailing blood
that left you weary, but aware to never give in.

For He renews, in His Spirit, His Body
there is a will for you, already painted in
truth. You must continue. Have patience.

Arise from shadows, from excavations
where you've hidden light.

Live as you have been called by Him,
with unity, with peace, with gentle
welcoming,

and with a heart soft yet firm in love
walking like an angel by a
stranger's side....
who may not see the steeple, may not
know what the stained glass windows
keep alive,

what resurrection means...

Trust, embrace yourself, hold yourself
within His grasp and never let go,
know He is yours and you are His

and live on in humbleness.

Show the fountains of new life,
what you once saw as water kissing
the callouses and marked wounds on
fingers,

know you'll always be forgiven, accepted,
and that there is always a seat
waiting.. for He will listen to your musings and
give you hope, let you walk on with Him
never drawing anything close to a
goodbye upon you.

For I've ran away a hundred days,
erased the truth about me in a million paragraphs,
but He's been there to breathe back a life filled
with mercy

and no matter how many times I throw
home onto my back, I'm not complete without Him.

He gave everything so you could
be among Him..
He is there with open arms.
Somewhere inside your heart there is
a yawning wonder to follow,

Keep close that He is always guiding

He'll never give up.

    MarryAnne,

I know that I promised you a bunch of lenghy, detailed comments. And I'm sorry I couldn't keep that promise. Now that I am in the mood of analysing poetry, guess it's easier. But I'm warning ya it's all rambling.

I love reading poetry that motivates my mind (wich oftentimes doesn't work anyway), it makes me realy think of life and God. And the way you began it with the image of a big, warm church is just chilling. I love historical or religious places so much that I might even begin to shove them into my poetry.
    :)
I loved the 'peaceful' atmosphere to this piece, in particular, when speaking of God to be endlessly giving and guiding us. I find that really solacing.

'For I've ran away a hundred days,
erased the truth about me in a million paragraphs'

    Oh, I loved this.
I would use 'erasing' instead though. And yep 'run'. Haha I am not meaning to correct anything here. Really. I am just thinking out loud. ;)

Loved this poem and I'm now off to check the rest!
