Then, and now

You see me, do you not? You stare so deeply, lost in the eyes of a soul you thought you forgot.
It hurts you now, just like it hurt me then, a smile forms upon my face as I watch you play pretend.
Your hands shake, though you try to stay
still. Darling, it was a temporary hurt, I told you one day this heart of mine would heal.
