Frost Bitten Haze

by Maple Tree   Jul 28, 2012

Upon a silent goodbye,
your apology meant
nothing to me.

Scattered epitaph messages
raged within a scarred tragedy,
I became a refugee, forced to
choke on your miserable
confession, as snow capped
whispers, halted my
response..

Crystal chaos consumed
a vision less, broken soul-

City of death, covered
within a white, hazy yesterday,
looking as beautiful as
Frankenstein's Bride,
my heart melts, still;

Trying to recover
from your frost bitten
decision, to leave me alone,
as the blizzard
swallowed me whole.

Dark angels gravitate
to my feet,
as I become a gnome
of fear...
forgive me love, I will never forget
the day my tears turned into snowflakes...

Aww Maple Tree, this poem is so powerful. I really liked the opening and how you described it as a silent goodbye - this I got and could relate to and when you state the apology meant nothing it shows how deeply you were hurt.

    looking as beautiful as
    Frankenstein's Bride

    - absolutely loved this line, your words create such an image in my head and the scene just has a continuous flow from one stanza to the next.

    Trying to recover
    from your frost bitten
    decision, to leave me alone,
    as the blizzard
    swallowed me whole

    - I really thought this stanza stood out the best for me, it shows your true pain and the damage it has done to you. To think of someone leaving you when you needed to be saved. It is like when they left you gave up anyway and let the blizzard take you.

Your ending was the bit that really takes your breath away. Just that last simple line holds more power than I can describe. I liked your relation to the gnome. I can clearly imagine how great the fear is inside of you to make you turn into a statue that cannot move.

I really liked this one, you done well.
