Talvez Sabras

by Yakari Gabriel   Jul 28, 2012

If you saw the waves we've
been sailing lately, how the
ship keeps getting beaten
and bruised, so bad,
we almost lose it
but we don't throw ourselves
over board, no, not yet,
even though we know
we won't see a haven any time soon.

if you could hear the recent growls
of the wind, how it breaks
its way through our windows,
like a hungry lion, shaking all
our possessions, how scary it
gets at night..

if you could feel how
hard the rain has been falling
on our skin, more like splints
of glass than water..leaving
us hurt, bloody.

talvez sabras,
why her tears feel like
gunshots in my lungs, how they
knock the air out of me-

why the absence of the sun
is the only thing I look forward to,
only to drift into sleep, and not
know of anything..

If I were to tell you,
chapter by chapter, perhaps
you'd praise me, perhaps you'd
pity me, perhaps you'd love me.

...Talvez sabras

"Talvez sabras"
translates to "maybe you'd know"
in spanish.

This was really interesting, a point I'd never heard of before. So many pieces of this poem to point out, the anguish and pain I felt here.. Oh you hit my emotions desperately. This was so touching.

I loved how you incorporated the Spanish part here...and the repetition really got to my heart. Really well-written, this really made my heart hurt and I want you to know you are not unloved- never will be :]

Amazing emotions here- I like the imagery, it's simple yet you don't need too much of it because it gives that striking effect.

I really loved this poem Yaki, your comparisons worked very well together...The only thing I would change is the part you said off board- I think a better word is over board, but that is minor and you did a wonderful job here.

    more. more :)
