Flowering Tobacco

by Meme   Jul 31, 2012

My eyes are closed
for I have exhausted
the last metaphor,
deadened heartbeats
escaped me in the haze
of this summer night.

Still, I linger for the
chasing shadows that
accompany your voice.
Your whispers in my
ears; a thunder born in
the middle of an imaginary
sky that I created.

You planted in me an
addiction to the way
those whisper of yours
delight my ears. I inhaled
them as if they were the
last breath to suffocate on.

But even if I burned
my last breath, I can
still close my eyes and
lose myself in the garden
of flowering tobacco
that seemed to find itself
growing all around me.

I love the idea of chasing shadows - I have a poem called this, and also have used this as user names and email addresses. I think it just 2 words that together give such a powerful image of what the author is feeling.

Loved the idea of your poem, there was a lot to take out from it, but for me it was the affect someone else can have on you that you may not even be aware of until you become addicted. This can be be in both a good way or a bad way. Again, there is a lot to be taken from this write which is the type of poems I like.

    Well done. x
