Tiger by the tail

by joseph santacruz   Jul 31, 2012

My life was like an open book with half the pages missing
dancing with demons and with the devil french kissing

Wondering whats wrong with all these folks and why they cant be nice
I think their problems obvious their intoxicated with vice.

Smoke myself to a lower place my dreams are rearranged
as Im falling to this deeper place Im constantly shortchanged.

They say true love makes you crazy some of the time
now my love of speed has me engaged to marry crime.

As I got tired of weed and the same old sleepy routine
I really got the tiger by the tail when I picked up methamphetamine.

What I thought of as fun is now serious as a heart attack
leave it up to me to find a needle in a haystack.

Finding something to sleep in and some pajamas so I can rest
the only thing seems fitting is a strait jacket or bullet proof vest.

To try and define these acts of self brutality
the obvious answer is a weak grasp on reality.

If I ever get stupid and think about a relapse
I hope a hand comes down from heaven and gives me a mighty beaach slap.
