Once Upon A Sorry...

by Nic39uy   Aug 7, 2012

Compared to "I love you", "Sorry" is used like the air
Especially in relationships, I can ensure you that
Those words will come first and foremost before the first "I love you"
Develops from your heart, then is defined within one's soul,
Well thought within our minds and finally spoken with our lips.

Widely said every second, you would think it lose its meaning
Well it has but we accept it unconsciously without realizing it
It comforts us and allows forgiveness to one another
A simple word yet has such a powerful influence on one's heart.
It's of the essence in one's relationship to be able to reconcile and love

Saying "sorry" with wrong intentions, it's been done for centuries
And sadly not a single person has been brought to justice for it.
It's a word not to be taken lightly, for it requires proper meaning
Just like those three forbidden words, which we also take for granted.
To say sorry, we are admitting fault and in return we gain knowledge.

I've been caught misusing sorry before but to catch subsequent mistakes
It's a slippery one, "Mistake", hard to narrow it down
Especially when they are coming from the heart,
They are rather near impossible to find, but with persistence
And reservation, we may never need to say sorry afterwards.

"I'm Sorry" was something I've grown used to hearing but
This particular "Sorry" was no ordinary sorry I've ever heard.
Though not physically there, those words were spoken so truly
It was mind-boggling and made me have a lost for words.
Only if I could hear you say it, would I truly appreciate those words.

Your sorry made it way to the depths of my heart
And managing to weigh down my heart with sheer guilt.
My sorry was past overdue, therefore you said it first
I've meant to say it to you initially but I could never find
It in my heart to say so but I know I owe it to you...

Saying sorry in this poem doesn't do me any justice
For it would just be another word that is meaningless
Unless it's spoken directly to you in person.
I'd love to say sorry but time doesn't love those
That cowers behind written words...like I do...

What a nice piece that shot my heart in the depth. I really lived every word you said and really thank you for that. BTW I'll nominate it. Just few points I'd like to mention and it's up to you to change

'Compare to' I think should be 'compared to'
'it lose it meaning Well it has' should read 'it lose its meaning Well it did'
'influence to' should be 'influence on'
'It in my heart to say so but I know I owe it to you...'
I think it should be 'It is in my ...'

    Thank you for that
