Alone with the Moon

by joseph santacruz   Aug 7, 2012

As diamonds spilled from a jar
the stars shimmer...thats why their stars.

Like glitter upon black velvet
the harder I gaze the further they get.

Then all alone on its shelf
I spy solo moon all by itself.

I wonder if his song is lonely?
because he is the one and only.

Or is his happiness uncovered
to set romantic moods for lovers?

No want of candle or electric light
concealing moonglow, imaginations night.

So many lovers came and went
moonlit night is good time spent.

It gives me time to puzzle and think
tonights lovely moon, my silent shrink.

I lift my glass and whisper "cheers!"
to faithful moon across the years.

Summers eve alone with thoughts past
in good company moonshadows cast.

Sandmans here moonbeams on my pillow
I know for sure there are much, much worse bedfellows.

I may sound a bit sad with heart out of tune
but Im okay alone with the moon.
