My Broken Down Heart Still Belongs To You

by Captain Lonesome   Aug 8, 2012

She could be one to help heal and mend the tattered seems
Maybe with her I would be able to live out my dreams
But I made a promise and to that I must surly be true
There can't be another; my broken down heart still belongs to you

The cold, dead, unexplained stop to what we had
It's enough to twist a heart and turn a mind mad
Perhaps it is too soon to try and create something new
I can't anyway because; my broken down heart still belongs to you

I'm not sure of her and I would even work out
Or if she's even interested; I have my doubts
First you'd have to release or claim; just give me a clue
If you only knew; my broken down heart still belongs to you

I can feel you slipping further and further away from me
What we had that was so clear, is now quite hard to see
Now I'm just all mixed up inside, my feelings are askew
I'm dumbfounded; my broken down heart still belongs to you

Even the idea of loving again made a piece of my heart grow
Shedding away the broken down shell steadily and slow
Since you stole my heart as we fell in love this is what I'll do
The broken down shell of my heart will always belong to you.

I like the way you repeated the title throughout the ending line of each stanza. It truly can resemble the way we think... We always like to wonder off in our thoughts but the underlying message keeps shining through every doubt and regret we have. I also found that the way you ended the poem was so powerful and it displays a change and a resolution to the questions seeming around through out the poem. The words you have selected truly convey they are deeply stitched by emotions of what you feel and the changing of life is portrayed clearly through each stanza I really liked this poem overall.
Thankyou for sharing your thoughts and allowing me into your mind!
    5/5 from me!
