Liberation

by Beautiful Chaos   Aug 9, 2012

Eyes of secrets, soul of dust
Tempered feelings, heart of rust
Start anew, so easily said
For those who are not living dead

For those who do not fight their state
This human plight our minds dictate
We'll love it now, as we did then
We'll love it never, love it when?

Try to make the moments last
Pretend our time hasn't passed
Wishing on some shooting star
Won't change the truth of who we are

Won't change the truth of who we were
What we've seen, what makes us stir
The way in which our words caress
Or kill upon our tongues regress

A poet once, a dreamer twice
Both dependent on a vice
Hope to change, some depth of pain
To let go what we can't regain

Fearless thought to try once more
Regardless of the oath we swore
That lonely promise to our mind
To live unfeeling, walk on blind

Against our nature, bound to fail
Like water at a fire sale
Life is fueled by passion's flame
Beneath the surface, all the same

Long to give, long to take
Feel we're dreaming, though awake
Unabashed, by what has passed
Free to love and live at last
