The Cruelest Gift

by Mattias Ostling   Aug 14, 2012

You are the birds in the sky
and the clouds that always sigh.
You are the wolves in the north
and the cacti in the south.
You are the wind in my hair,
the ground on which I tread,
and the very essence I breathe.

Roses bloom where you walk
and the sun rises within your eyes.
Your crimson sky leaves gryphons
bedazzled, and your alluring
ether leaves men enthralled.
A beauty so ravishing
even Aphrodite cannot match
and a soul so pure that
Osiris himself walks in shame.
You are everything to me,
yet I mean nothing to you.

To you I am but one
of your many admirers,
who adores your smile,
and loves the way you breathe,
who treasures your presence
and worships at your feet
and just like them
you will leave me to rot
when my life comes to naught.
When I draw my final breath
and join you in the earth or sky
you will not love, or hate me,
for you will not know me

Gaia, will you ever see me?

Lovely collab, you both. I don't even know who wrote what, which is quite hard to do when writing collaboratively. The transition of the narration and the flow is incredibly smooth. Really well done!
