Of Those Whose Lips Are Once Red

by Andrea Torres   Aug 19, 2012

Once upon a kiss, of a life, a maiden fair.
Danced under the silken threads,
Of silver red roses and gleaming daffodils,
Of midnight silence and heart beats.
There in the embrace of a man clad in silken cloak.
Who taught her passion's bittersweet taste.
Had she known life? She now knew love,
It contained in her chest and flutters like doves.
It made her soar the heaven landing on dew drops.
But, alas! More of these, brought a river flowing in her cheeks.
Stabbing her heart with sheath of fire,
Rendered her breathless and wanting to die.
Yes love is cruel as it is kind.
Immortal love could be everlasting pain.
But darling, I said, it isn't love that hurs at all;
It was the original sin of man.
It was your lover, not your love.
It was not punishment from above.
If he deceived you once upon a kiss,
Next time, love, give it to who it's worth.

I really felt your heart spilling in this poem. Amazingly written, beautifully put. My favorite lines were lines 12 through 15. I will look for more of your poetry!
