Happy Tears

by Chelsey   Aug 20, 2012

My vision is obstructed as these barricades
cannot abstain the waterfall streaming over.
Eyelids are heavy laden as these lashes
collect mist that affixes them all together.

Heavy sobbing may evoke concern,
but the reason I can't breathe, and
the reason I can't sleep, is because
my thoughts have won the best of me.

Don't be alarmed, the memories of
your past mistakes do not taunt me.
The remembrance of my wounded heart
does not tease its healing.

What is causing these tears to rupture,
is the thought of being without you.

I cannot walk this world with stiff knees,
I need them to go weak for you.
I will live a thousand sleepless nights,
if I could no longer dream of you.
My God knows I could not prosper,
unless I am supported by you.

Find understanding in your heart tonight
and remember I am female. There are times
we just want to cry, simply because we are
happy.

Oh LALA Chelsy girl, this is a poem I can relate to hehe, amazing stuff over here.

Let us start with the tone, I am fond of love poems that do not go all cheesy, you did not just focus on your emotions but you talked about that person in an indirect way, then went to how you feel toward him and without him, then drew a conclusion at the end.

which makes this very enjoyable to read.

Then, I am fond of how you talked about his past mistakes and how you are oblivious of them, wont stand in your way. This reflects maturity and also a WILL of doing something to have this relation ship growing bigger and going deeper.

Moreover, this part was REALLY perfect:

I cannot walk this world with stiff knees,
I need them to go weak for you.
I will live a thousand sleepless nights,
if I could no longer dream of you.

This is full of love, wanting to be weak infront of that special person, oh yes i know..right ? lol Here to think deeper, it's dedicating something, dedicating us for that person wanting to be a part of them and to be related and effected by that person, for him to have an impact on you and your life.

The 3rd and 4th line in your opening stanza were awesome and really poetic.

Loved your closing lines, just amazing and drew a general summary for everything that you have been trying to reveal with your words.

    And yes...so true :)

    Love this, Chels.
When I'm so overjoyed, I can't help but cry. Like you said, it's the female in us...although, I have seen a few men cry from happiness, like the birth of their baby.

You captured a lot of imagery for just a small moment.

    Great word usage!

I loved this Chels, Loved the title too it just makes you want to read it. It's funny when we are so happy and overwhelmed by it, we release it through tears, the same we we release negative feelings too.

It is good to remind people that tears can be from happiness too and your poem is just beautiful.

Wow, Chelsey. You just penned a beautiful piece inspired just by a very common and typical image/moment - crying.

I love how you used 'barricades' as a metaphor for eyelids. It's a powerful word and it works so well.

'hat is causing these tears to rupture,
is the thought of being without you.'
