I won't be back again.

by Rebecca Bentley   Aug 20, 2012

The light at the end of the tunnel,
I found it once upon a time.
You were standing there,
You said everything I wanted would be mine.
For a while that's how things went,
The harder you tried,
Less money on your addiction was spent.
Masking the fact we were still unhappy.
Slowly things started slipping away,
No longer grasping onto our relationship,
Only left with broken strings.
And again, you decided to punch me in the face.
Getting heavy handed is your answer to everything,
And now again I'm sat in this hospital bed.
You've only got yourself to blame,
I'm no longer going to live this way.
Forgiving you time and time again,
But your actions always end the same way.
Baby boy I'm leaving you,
And I won't be back again.

This poem id very touching, and personal to me. It is not always as easy as leaving like what people suggest to do. You have penned here a very difficult situation and you showed from the beginning how things were good and all the promises he made you, and then told the story of the change in him and the relationship and his actions of dealing with his emotions, taking it out on you.

Very brave poem, and I admire the person for having the strength which is shown here.

I am glad your character found the strength to leave, If this was you well done. If not this is a great message to those that may find themselves in this situation,
You stress the fact that things only get better for the short term. People can't really changed, they are wired up a certain way.

I love the anger as the poem builds to the conclusion.

    great write.
