My best friend

by Danielle Riddle   Jun 29, 2004

Monday I saw a girl
Who looked like she was me
Pretty blue eyes, and short blond hair
It was a scary thing to see

I looked at that girl
and saw all of her pain
All the confusion and anger
about to drive her insane

She shrugged it off
and put on a smile
hoping to hide her feelings
Only for a little while

Tuesday we met again
She looked happier than I recall
But I could see right through her
She really wanted to fall

I asked her what was wrong
But she didn't seem to talk
I knew there was something wrong
I just didn't know what

Wednesday I saw her
She looked really sad
So I gave her a smile
But it only made her mad

I was so confused because
I was only trying to be nice
And I didn't give up yet
I took another roll of the dice

Thursday came and I got up
I was ready for the day
To find this girl and be her friend
In any possible way

It wasn't to long before
I spotted her alone
I walked a little closer
and she gave a weird moan

I realized then that she was scared
And the world had done her wrong
She was neglected and abused
How could she stay so strong

Friday was a happy day
for her and for me
She opened up a little bit
She started to let me see

See her hunger and her hurt
Her laughter, joy, and pain
I understand just how she feels
Her trust I soon gained

Saturday's gone and faded
I didn't see my friend
I wander if shes alright
Or if her life is at its end

I hope to see her tomorrow
This girl is really sweet
She's my best friend forever
Whether I'm strong or weak

Today is Sunday and my friend
Is nowhere to be found
I hope that shes ok
I feel my head spin round

I'm panicking, I need to find her
to make sure that shes ok
This day is almost gone
Tomorrow might be to late

I found my friend
But she was not well
She was depressed because
Her world had fell

So I told her a story
About my past
She was looking into my eyes
But she became blurry fast

The tears came rolling
down my face
My new best friend
Just stood in her place

How can this be?
Didn't she care?
She just stood and watched me
This didn't seem that fair

I dried my tears and cleared my throat
And when my eyes were clear
I realized that my new best friend
Was my reflection in a mirror

OMG, this poem is simply amazing, i think that this is the best poem that i have read here so far. Your an amazing writer and i don't know how to tell you otherwize.

You are an amazing writer, i was thinking it was a mirror all along, but i didn't figure that it would be the truth. I know one thing...your poetry is amazing. I love it and i think that it is the type of thing that makes you think twice about what you do.

I know how you feel about the hurt and hunger, i know what you mean. I am sorry for any hurt that you may have had during your life, so young but yet so wize. *your added to my favorites for sometime now*

you know the saying " The ultimate result of shielding man from the effects of folly is to people the world with fools." - Herbert Spencer. I think you should continue writing, i am eagerly awaiting your next poem. 5/5 for this poem!.

Loved it, sorry if this is too long, i just loved this poem a lot.
