Countless Weeks of Solitude

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Aug 25, 2012

Why close my eyes and dream
Of a better you,
If when I'm wide awake
That's all I ever do ?
All it takes are delicate words
To expose my vulnerability;
Everyone around already knew
Except the naive heart in me.

Cause, yeah, I trusted you,
Trusted every lie you told.
You could've said you weren't looking for love,
But that would've been too bold.

Has it really only been 365 days
Since the last time I saw you ?
What's the point of walking down memory lane,
When I know it's not what you do ?
All it takes is the sweetest caress to my lips
And my heart is ready to explode;
Everyone knew about your lies,
So how was I the last to know ?

It's been countless weeks of solitude,
Of pure unhappiness and despair.
And you're completely untouched with sorrow
You don't give a damn that I cared.

I was blinded by your lies,
Utterly lost in your eyes,
Do you see what you have done to me ?
Sucked dry from your goodbye,
Lost count of the tears I cried,
Do you see what you've done to me ?
