Theory of Absence

by Meme   Aug 30, 2012

You tell me you'll be there
when I need you the most,
but when I am halfway to
you; you are already gone.

You hold a grip on your
words, never letting them
go, but then you break all
your silence when I am gone.

You negotiate the minutes
I spend not thinking about
you, but then you spend a
day out of my reach.

Its time that I do it differently
so no more listening to your
never kept promises. No more
waiting for your unbroken
silence. No more walking in
your unreachable road.

--

Its time for me to test your
own theory of absence ..

Theory of absence..... this piece is a mixture of many emotions: love, sadness, and some humor in the end... an eye for an eye, I assume... of course it will pay off!

It is true; I believe we've all 'encountered' such a person in our lives before. They only linger through the 'good times' and suddenly disappear when you truly need them. The ending is soo powerful - as all your poems are - and I always find myself wanting to reach your endings because of that. You always manage to put a twist and just leave the reader speechless.
Here, it's like you're giving that said person a 'taste of their own medicine' :)
    Love this piece. Keep writing.

I like the growing strength in this, i also love the contradictions in each stanza, the third stanza being the best. Great piece.

    Very well written poem Meme!

Some people claim to be there when we need them but end up running away when things get tough. We don't need people like that in our lives since they only stick around for the good times.
