The Prince and Princess with Fabric Hearts

by A Poets Handwriting aka ALISHA   Sep 2, 2012

It seems so long ago,
that you were by my side.
Our hearts woven together
like threads within fabric.

But life threw too many lemons,
and the obstacles were much too tough.
Our bond inevitably weakened,
as did our fabric hearts.

The iron must have been broken,
for it didn't smooth our qualms.
Our frustrations were sparked,
our worries a fuel to the fire.

Then came that final dismal day,
where the prince and princess
with the torn fabric hearts,
were forced to remove their crown.

The fire burned our castle;
our anger unable to be contained,
our fabric hearts went up in smoke.
It all seems like so long ago...

Nice piece of free verse style about fabric hearts. My first point about the first line 'it seems so long ago' you have to add 'that' after 'seems' because you are talking now about something happened in the past. Line two 'that you were by my side' should be 'when you were by my side'. Line 6 'were much too tough' should be 'were much tough' since 'much' and 'too' give the same effect and meaning.
    Great and meaningful piece
