Worthless

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 3, 2012

A fragile petal blowing in the wind
swaying to and fro.
This fragile petal is all alone
attached loosely to its hollow home.
The long green stem no longer grows
for it gave up so long ago.
The other petals all flew the nest,
only isolation remains.
Even the sun stopped shining down
with the warmth of its bright rays.
The rain no longer showered it
with the nurture it so craved.
The ground beneath it crumbled
making the green grass fade away.
This sorrowful little petal
had nothing left to give.
Day by day the energy drained
from the moment it woke up.
Until one day the cold wind blew
and pulled the petal off.
Slowly gliding, being swept away
it softly landed on the ground.
Instantly becoming trampled upon
scarring the beauty it once held.
The worthless petal takes one last look
at what used to be its home,
Then closing its eyes it says goodbye
to a world it used to know.
