Syria - The Disaster

by Khalid M Darwish   Sep 5, 2012

I do have
nostalgia to you,

my only mother's mom,
my poor disaster - SYRIA!

I wish if I were every sweet word
on the tip of your history tongue

I wish if I were the pumper
of Your every street beat

I wish if I were your best sight
ever seen in your great latitudes

I wish if I were the best fulfillment or
tenderness touch on a crying child head

As hundred thousands of people migrating
I was forced to leave but yearn to come back

Leaving ancient mosques and churches behind,
I'd my last heartbreak look at my collapsed home

I became homeless, begging for food and medicine,
in a neighboring country for almost a year and a half

I have visited so many countries but haven't loved any
Whatever you ask you have to pay for, or be a bagger

But I do pray for every innocent blood assassinated
on Syria's pure soil with no face of right or mercy

I do pray for every violated people sanctities
there in the dark with absence of helpers

Which sins have been committed by
places of worship, mosques and churches?

You can't judge who's right unless you be there
Syria was most peaceful. Will it be peaceful again?

* Dedicated to all martyrs, injuried, kidnaped, immigrated, criticized people in Syria
May God protect it from unforgiven historical crimes.
