This poem has such a different feel than your usual poems... the whole tone really just breaks my heart. Usually I hear a bit of the optimism from you but this just doesn't have me hopeful. Was this a challenge or a frustration? OH duh your note says free write. lol

I love that you repeated talking is hard - it definitely can be, especially if you have to discuss your feelings, and perhaps will feel invalidated, or said person hurt you and you feel they will ridicule you for these thoughts. Or confrontation. Either of those options really suck, and I think you led the reader to strongly feel that, even if they think it's not really a hard thing for them to do.

This poem definitely got me thinking, and it's something I will read again in a different mood and see if I feel differently about it. Wonderful!

I may know what you're speaking of in this piece. The friendship you were talking to me about? Like I said I'm sure everything will be fine and everything will be built back together. I can understand how conversations may be a bit different now and maybe awkward, but I feel like things will change, of course all with time.

Your title is so fitting, & I love how you used the sound of the ocean to weave in more meaning, as if this will lead you in the right direction.

Very much so a free write, but this is the best kind of poetry, it allows you to just be yourself and let everything out.

    Well done!

    Gasp*....maryannneee what is thiisssss??

Omg I love your free writes to death, I was just told that some poems can't be broken down, and I feel like this was one of them. If I were to show you each stanza that blew me away, I might as well just paste your whole poem here lol

What I loved about this most is every stanza, every thought, had such an amazing metaphor, where usually id find poems to be kind of, how do you say..."too much" when there is an abundance of metaphors, I didn't feel that way about this. I actually quite liked the randomness to it, the mixture of of metaphors because it was like a mixture of emotions..

    Awesome awesome write!! :)
