My Mind's Cave

by Angel Slain   Sep 11, 2012

I hold my hand steady,
No-one would know of the nervousness within it,
Within my seams, and all through my burning body.
I call to you, from out of this darkened cavity, in which I have resided to a point of comfort.
I grab the iron bars surrounding me with weakened eyes.
I feel along the murky, cold, stone walls, just to find my way,
My way around this small corner of space that I am given.
Only in this I am allowed to wander,
To sit and think of what it has all come to.
This sickened taste in my mouth swallows my thoughts of anything else, of chances.
These short heights here in the damp restrict me, always used to it.
All in my mind, I am lost,
I am caught, I am held.
I speak of the no-one to know my famishment,
But I realised so long ago that no-one exists here.
No-one to save me,
To bring me out, to hold my hand.
